A credit bearing merSETA registered skills programme offered on a full-time basis over 15 days.
This course is for any learner within the fabrication and welding fields and will ensure that they are capable of successfully welding work pieces using the gas metal arc welding process. Learners credited with this course will also be capable of describing the welding industry`s composition within their own company in relation to their own and other people`s roles within the company, its structures, productivity requirements and communication techniques.
Learners accredited with this course are able to identify and select materials used in the structural industry in accordance with laid down material specifications. Learners will be able to use welding definitions and symbols during welding preparation in accordance with job and industry requirements.
NQF Level 1 qualification or ABET Level 4.
- Describing the gas metal arc welding process and the related equipment.
- Identify materials to specification.
- Plan the identification process to identify materials to specification.
- Selecting, setting up and conducting pre-operational checks of gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Preparing workpieces prior to welding.
