Type of course:

A credit bearing merSETA registered skills programme o?ered on a full-time  basis over 15 days. 

Purpose of the course:

This course helps learners identify and describe the features of a manufacturing, assembly or engineering process; as well as identify safety, health and environmental issues within the workplace. In addition to this, learners will also understand what behaviours are appropriate in a workplace and respond to inappropriate behaviours. 

Course outline:

The key focus of this course is on the skills and knowledge required to service, maintain, repair or manufacture a product and introduces learners to a manufacturing environment. 

Entry requirements:

Communication and numeracy at ABET Level 3.  

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will be proficient in the following areas:
  • Identify and describe the features of a manufacturing, assembly or engineering process and the changes which occur.
  • Understanding what behaviours are appropriate in a workplace.
  • Understanding the employment contract, procedures, rules and policies which determine workplace relationships.

Assessment method:
To monitor progress and effectiveness of learning, continuous assessments (formative) are carried out by way of written tests and practical assignments, throughout the training.

US13169 - Describe and discuss issues relating to HIV-AIDS, TB and sexually transmitted illnesses and their impact on the workplace - NQF Level 1 - 4 Credits

US13162 - Identify and describe inputs, outputs, stages and quality indicators of the manufacturing, assembly or engineering process - NQF Level 1 - 10 Credits

US13174 - Identify ad discuss inappropriate behaviours in the workplace - NQF Level 1 - 2 Credits

US13167 - Identify potential hazards and critical safety issues in the workplace - NQF Level 1 - 2 Credits

US13172 - Understand the employer/employee relationship - NQF Level 1 - 3 Credits
