Duration: This qualification is run over 4 weeks


Type of course:

A credit bearing CETA registered skills programme offered on a full-time basis over 4 weeks. 

Purpose of this course:

To train new entrants and experienced construction industry stakeholders the roofing skills in marking and cutting timber to specifications, set out, clad roof structures, position and secure roof trusses. 

Course outline:

Learners accredited with this course will be able to clad a roof structure in accordance with roof plan drawing specifications, set out, brace and erect site made, as well as prefabricated roof trusses and set out, cut and assemble timber roof trusses. 

Entry requirements:

Communication and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 2. 

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will be proficient in the following areas:
  • Clad a roof structure in accordance with roof plan drawing specifications
  • Set out, brace and erect site made, as well as prefabricated roof trusses
  • Set out, cut and assemble timber roof trusses

Assessment method:
To monitor progress and effectiveness of learning, continuous assessments (formative) are carried out by way of written tests and practical assignments, throughout the training.
