Duration: This qualification is run over 6 weeks


Type of course:

A credit bearing CETA registered skills programme offered on a full-time basis over 6 weeks. 

Course outline:

Learners accredited with this course will be able set out and prepare carpentry work areas, brace and erect site-made and prefabricated roof trusses as well as clad a roof structure. 

Entry requirements:

Communication at NQF Level 1 and Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 1.  

Upon successful completion of the course, the learner will be proficient in the following areas:
  • Set out and prepare carpentry work areas. 
  • Set out, brace and erect site-made and prefabricated roof trusses. 
  • Clad a roof structure in accordance with roof plan drawing specifications. 
  • Build, connect, clad and erect timber frame walls and install appropriate insulation

Assessment method:
To monitor progress and effectiveness of learning, continuous assessments (formative) are carried out by way of written tests and practical assignments, throughout the training.

US14891 - Erect roof trusses - NQF Level 2 - 14 Credits

US14887 - Clad roof structures - NQF Level 2 - 6 Credits

US9964 - Apply health and safety to a work area - NQF Level 2 - 3 Credits

US14894 - Set out and prepare construction carpentry work areas - NQF Level 2 - 3 Credits

US14886 - Build timber frame walls - NQF Level 2 - 8 Credits

US14890 - Erect ceilings and install insulation - NQF Level 2 - 4 Credits
